About Education templates

An education server has to work for two groups who use it very differently: instructors who post and students who ask. These templates give instructors read-only channels for announcements, syllabus, assignments and resources, so what they post is never lost under replies, and give students a questions forum per subject, study voice rooms and a general lounge. Course layouts follow a single class with week-by-week or module structure; school and department layouts add a category per subject with a teacher, teaching assistant and student role set; tutoring layouts add booking, a whiteboard voice room and a channel for homework submissions that only the tutor can read. Office hours get a stage or voice channel with a queue channel next to it. Permission overwrites keep the staff room and grading discussions away from students without hiding the material they need. Reminders handle deadlines, Tickets give a private route for personal questions, and Applications can take enrolment forms.

Frequently asked questions

Can students see each other's submissions?

Not in the tutoring and course layouts: the submissions channel is locked so a student can post but only staff can read. Peer review, where you want it, has its own open forum.

How do I run more than one class in one server?

Use the school or department layout. Each subject is a category with its own student role, so a member sees only the classes they are enrolled in.

Is there anything here for a study group rather than a class?

That is the Study Groups category. It drops the instructor structure and centres on shared sessions, accountability and resources.
