About Roleplay templates

Roleplay servers are worlds, and a world needs a map. These templates separate in-character from out-of-character at the category level so nobody has to ask which is which: an OOC category holds the general chat, character sheets forum, plot planning and questions; an IC category holds one channel per location, named for the place rather than the activity; and a lore category holds the read-only world documents, timeline and rules of play. Setting variants change the locations: a fantasy kingdom has a tavern, market, castle and wilds, a sci-fi station has a bridge, hangar, medbay and quarters, a modern city has a diner, apartments, a park and a hospital, a school setting has classrooms, a dorm and a courtyard. Roles carry both hierarchies: the out-of-character one, storyteller, game master and moderator, and the in-character one, factions and ranks that members assign themselves or earn through play. A dice or bot channel and a private storyteller room round it out. Self-Roles cover factions, Applications take character submissions for approval, and Reminders schedule sessions.

Frequently asked questions

How do I add a new location later?

Create a text channel inside the in-character category and give it the same read and post permissions as its neighbours. The category's overwrites are the pattern; a new channel inherits them.

Do these templates include age-restricted roleplay channels?

No. The catalog is entirely age-appropriate. If your server needs age-restricted channels, add them yourself and mark them in Discord.

Can I use a roleplay template for a play-by-post tabletop campaign?

Yes. The campaign layouts are built for it: a session channel per arc, a dice channel, a character forum and a game-master room, with locations kept to the few the party visits.
