About Local Communities templates
A local server is organised by place and by week. These templates give a city or neighbourhood its channels for local news, events this week, meetups with a signup channel, recommendations by kind, food, services, housing, and a marketplace with buy, sell and free channels that are slowmoded to keep them tidy. Campus layouts add a category per faculty or dorm, a rides and roommates board and an events calendar; club and association layouts add membership, meeting notes, a volunteers channel and a committee room; neighbourhood layouts add a lost-and-found channel, a safety channel and mutual aid. Roles describe where someone is from rather than what they may do, self-assignable district, campus or faculty roles, plus a verified-resident tier where you want to restrict the marketplace to locals, and a moderator tier. Voice is minimal, one or two rooms for meetups that go online. Self-Roles cover districts, Reminders announce weekly events, Suggestions collect ideas for meetups, and Auto-Mod keeps the marketplace free of scams.
