About Developers templates

Developer servers need channels that are precise about scope. A question about a build error does not belong next to a framework debate, and a release announcement should never scroll past unread. These templates use forum channels heavily: a help forum with tags per language or topic keeps each question in its own thread with a clear resolved state, a showcase forum gives projects a lasting page instead of a message that disappears, and a jobs or collaboration forum stays browsable for weeks. Open-source project layouts add contributing guidelines, issue triage, a maintainers' room and a channel for the bot that posts commits and CI results. Team layouts add standups, sprint planning, incidents and a private leadership channel. Language-community layouts give each ecosystem a channel and a role you assign yourself so the general channel stays general. Webhook-fed channels are locked to read-only for members. Vetox's Reminders cover standups and release dates, Self-Roles handle languages and notification opt-ins, and Tickets can take private support requests for a library.

Frequently asked questions

Why forums instead of plain text channels for help?

A forum thread keeps a question, its code and its answer together and searchable, and a tag marks it resolved. In a text channel the third question buries the first.

Where do bot and CI notifications go?

Into read-only feed channels in their own category, so members can mute them without muting the conversation. The templates create those channels with posting locked to admins and webhooks.
