Overview
Built for a milsim unit - Arma, Squad, Hell Let Loose or any game where people show up on time, use callsigns and expect orders - that has outgrown one chat and one voice room. The HQ Gate is read-only: #unit-charter, #chain-of-command, #ranks-and-insignia, the #unit-orders feed from the command staff and an #enlistment-desk where a ticket starts an application. Recruits live in the Barracks and the Training Academy - #basic-training, #training-schedule, #drill-signups and a #qualification-tracker forum where every course keeps a thread - until a Drill Instructor passes them and they become Enlisted. Only then do they see Operations: #warning-orders and #operation-orders, both read-only below Platoon Leader, #op-signups, #intel-and-maps, a #mission-planning forum and an #after-action-reports forum tagged Sustain and Improve. Each squad channel is visible to its own squad and to leadership only. The Quartermaster keeps #loadout-standards, #armory-inventory and #modset-downloads read-only and takes a slowmoded #supply-requests. Voice is a set of nets: a Parade Ground lobby, a Briefing Room stage, Platoon Net, one net per squad, a Training Range and an Off-Duty room. Personnel and Command Staff are hidden from everyone below Squad Leader.
When to use it
The unit has three squads, a Sunday operation and a training night, and the same questions keep surfacing: who is my squad leader, when is the briefing, where is the modset, did anyone write up last week's op. This layout writes the chain of command down, gives orders a read-only channel per stage, gives every squad its own text channel and voice net, and makes after-action reports a forum so the lessons from an operation are findable a month later.
What makes it different
- #warning-orders and #operation-orders are read-only below Platoon Leader, so an order is never a question.
- Recruits see the Barracks and the Training Academy only until a Drill Instructor passes them.
- Each squad channel is visible to that squad and to leadership, so Alpha never reads Bravo's chatter.
- #after-action-reports is a forum tagged Sustain and Improve, one thread per operation.
- The Quartermaster owns three read-only channels and a slowmoded #supply-requests.

Applications
Run enlistment through Applications from #enlistment-desk so a recruit's answers land in #enlistment-review for the Staff Officers.
Auto Roles
Give Auto Roles the Recruit role on join so a new arrival sees #basic-training and nothing above it until a Drill Instructor promotes them.
Reminders
Schedule a Reminder in #op-signups two days before each operation and another in #warning-orders an hour before the briefing.
Self-Roles
Post a Self-Roles panel in #ranks-and-insignia for Medic and Pilot so specialties are marked without a staff request.
Logs
Send Logs to #unit-logs so the command staff sees joins, leaves and role changes without opening the audit log.
Questions
How does a recruit become Enlisted?
They finish the basic training block posted in #basic-training and attend the sessions in #drill-signups. The Drill Instructor then swaps Recruit for Enlisted, which unlocks Operations and the Squads category, and a Squad Leader assigns them a squad role.
Why are squad channels hidden from other squads?
Because a squad channel is for that squad's leader to run their people: fireteam assignments, who is late, what to bring. Cross-squad coordination happens in #squad-leader-net and on Platoon Net, so nothing is lost by keeping them separate.
What goes in #warning-orders versus #operation-orders?
#warning-orders is the heads-up: date, time, game and what to prepare. #operation-orders is the full briefing posted the day before: situation, mission, execution, logistics and comms. Both are read-only below Platoon Leader; questions go to #op-signups or the Briefing Room.
Can this run more than three squads?
Yes. Copy one of the squad channels and its voice net, add a squad role, and put that role in the new channel's overwrites. The Squads category has room for a dozen without changing anything else.
Common mistakes
- Letting recruits see Operations on day one, which turns basic training into a formality nobody attends.
- Posting the operation order in the mess hall, where it is buried under memes before the first squad leader reads it.
- Building one voice net per rank instead of one per squad, so a squad leader cannot hear their own squad.
Consider instead
- Competitive Clan Divisions You field rosters in several games rather than one unit in one game.
- Small Squad, No Ranks You are a handful of friends who want to play together without a rank structure.
