Overview

A clan server for a tactical shooter - Valorant, Counter-Strike, Rainbow Six Siege, Apex or Call of Duty - where the ladder is the point. Recruit, Member, Veteran and Officer are the four rungs, and #rank-requirements at the front desk says what each one takes so nobody has to ask. Members are sorted into Squad Alpha, Bravo and Charlie, each with its own text room and a five-seat comms channel, and the Ranked Squads category also holds #scrim-schedule and a read-only #match-results that officers and coaches keep. Training is open to everyone including recruits: #training-schedule, an #aim-routines channel and a #vod-review forum where a player posts a clip and a Coach tags it Aim, Positioning or Comms. Tryouts are a category of their own: #tryout-signups, a read-only #tryout-results, and #recruit-lounge where recruits and coaches talk while the trial runs. Recruits cannot see the squad rooms until they pass. Command is hidden from everyone below Officer: #command-post, a #promotion-board where every rank-up is proposed and decided, #clan-logs and a Command Voice room. The Barracks is the shared floor: #barracks, #clips-and-highlights, #loadouts-and-settings and #rank-ups.

When to use it

The clan has three squads that scrim on different nights, a coach who reviews clips, and a stream of tryout requests, and all of it happens in one chat where a recruit can read the squad's strat notes on day one. This layout gives each squad a private room and comms, separates training from tryouts, and moves promotions into a board only officers can see.

What makes it different

  • Recruit, Member, Veteran, Officer: four rungs, and #rank-requirements says what each one takes.
  • Each squad has a private text room and a five-seat comms channel that recruits cannot see.
  • #vod-review is a forum where a Coach tags each clip Aim, Positioning or Comms.
  • #tryout-results and #match-results are read-only, posted by coaches and officers only.
  • #promotion-board keeps every rank-up proposal and decision inside Command.

Recommended Vetox setup

  • Applications

Run tryouts through Applications with the form linked in #tryout-signups, so every applicant answers the same rank, role and availability questions.

  • Auto Roles

Use Auto Roles to hand Recruit on join, so a new arrival sees the barracks, training and tryout channels and nothing from the squads.

  • Leveling

Make Veteran a Leveling role reward that only long-standing members reach, and keep Member and Officer as manual promotions from #promotion-board.

  • Reminders

Schedule a Reminder in #scrim-schedule an hour before each squad's scrim, pinging the squad role.

  • Temp Voice

Point Temp Voice at the Ready Room so a fourth squad or a pickup five gets a comms channel without touching the layout.

Questions

How many squads does this support?

Three out of the box: Alpha, Bravo and Charlie, each with a role, a text room and a comms channel. For a fourth, copy the three pieces and add the role to the Ranked Squads overwrites. Below three squads, delete Charlie.

Can a recruit join training?

Yes, and they should. The Training category, including #vod-review and the Training Range voice channel, is visible to recruits. Only the Ranked Squads and Command categories wait for a promotion.

Who decides promotions?

Officers, in #promotion-board. A Coach or Officer proposes a name with the evidence, the officers decide, and the result is posted in #rank-ups where the whole clan can congratulate them.

Common mistakes

  • Letting recruits into the squad rooms early, which puts strats and scrim times in front of players who may be gone next week.
  • Announcing promotions in chat before they are decided in #promotion-board, which turns every rank-up into a debate.
