Overview

A community for people who run games for time, organised the way a leaderboard is. Each game has its own category with a chat and a routing channel: #sm64-routing, #celeste-routing, #hollow-knight-routing and #portal-routing hold the route discussions and strat clips that a general channel would bury. Rename or add games as your community decides. The Start Line has the rules, a self-role channel so runners can tag their games, and #world-record-alerts, a read-only channel where verifiers post new records and ping the WR Alerts role. The Paddock is the shared floor: #runner-lounge, #pb-celebrations for personal bests, #run-clips and #live-runs for stream notifications. Resources covers what every runner asks in week one: #splits-and-timers, #tools-and-autosplitters, #hardware-and-capture, and a #guides-and-tutorials forum tagged by difficulty and topic. Verification is the category that makes this a real leaderboard community rather than a chat: #verification-queue, #rejected-runs and #verifier-chat are hidden from everyone but Verifiers and moderators, so a run under review is not litigated in public. Races get a signup channel, a read-only results feed and two eight-seat voice rooms, plus a Practice Grind room for people who want company while they reset.

When to use it

Your leaderboard has moved from a spreadsheet to a proper site, submissions arrive daily, and verification arguments keep spilling into the general channel. This layout gives every game its own routing space, isolates verification behind a staff gate, and turns records and races into feeds instead of chatter.

What makes it different

  • Each game gets a chat and a routing channel, so strats for one game never bury another.
  • #verification-queue, #rejected-runs and #verifier-chat are hidden from everyone but Verifiers and staff.
  • #world-record-alerts is read-only and pings WR Alerts, so a new record is one message everyone sees.
  • Race Room 1 and 2 are capped at eight so a race has its own comms while Practice Grind stays open.
  • #guides-and-tutorials is a forum tagged Beginner, Glitch, Setup and Timing, so answers outlive the chat.

Recommended Vetox setup

  • Notifications

Add your runners' Twitch channels to Notifications targeting #live-runs so the community can drop into a live attempt.

  • Self-Roles

Post a Self-Roles panel in #runner-roles for SM64, Celeste, Hollow Knight, Portal, Racer and WR Alerts so pings land on the right runners.

  • Tickets

Put a ticket panel in #appeals-desk so a rejected run is appealed in private with the Verifier who reviewed it, not in #runner-lounge.

  • Reminders

Schedule a Reminder in #race-signups an hour before each race so runners load their splits and join Race Room 1 on time.

  • Streaks

Turn on Streaks so daily grinders in #pb-celebrations keep a visible run count that matches the reset-heavy culture of the hobby.

Questions

Do I have to use the four games in the template?

No. They are placeholders for whichever games your community runs. Rename each game category and its two channels, adjust the matching role in #runner-roles, and add or remove categories as games come and go. Keep the chat plus routing pair for each one.

Who gets the Verifier role and what can they see?

Verifiers are the people who review submitted runs. The role can see the Verification category, post in #world-record-alerts and #race-results, and manage messages; it does not carry kick or ban rights, which stay with Moderators.

How do races work with this layout?

Announce the race and open #race-signups, ping Racer, then have everyone join Race Room 1, or Race Room 2 if the field is big. Post the standings in #race-results afterwards, where only Verifiers and staff can write, so results stay tidy.

Common mistakes

  • Discussing a run under review in public, which turns every rejection into a community argument instead of a verifier decision.
  • One channel for all games, so a Celeste route discussion is buried under SM64 clips within the hour.

Consider instead

  • Retro Gaming Club Your members play older games for fun rather than for time and do not need verification or races.
