Overview
Made for one competitive shooter squad - Valorant, Counter-Strike, Overwatch, Rainbow Six or whatever you rank in - that plays together several nights a week and wants the server to get out of the way. Everything a match night needs sits in Lobbies: #availability is where each player keeps one edited message with their week, #ranked-lfg is for need-one-for-comp and nothing else, #casual-lfg takes deathmatch, customs and warmups, and #scrim-planning holds opponents, dates and map picks with a reaction to confirm. #vod-review is deliberately separate from #clips: timestamps and mistakes in one, aces and clutches in the other, so a post-mortem is never buried under highlights. The HQ category is read-only - the Captain and IGL post the schedule and roster changes in #squad-briefing, and #patch-notes is a feed for balance changes. Voice is two five-seat stack rooms and a Warmup Range, so a sixth person cannot drop into a live match and talk over callouts. There is no recruit tier on purpose: a Stand-in either plays with the squad or does not, and the Captain promotes them to Squad when they stick. Captains have a private room and a log channel.
When to use it
Your stack has been living in one group chat where the scrim time for Thursday, a forty-second clip and a rant about sensitivity are all in the same scroll, and half the team misses the schedule. This layout gives the schedule a read-only briefing channel, queues their own lobbies, reviews their own channel and the match a five-seat room, without inventing a guild structure a five-person team does not need.
What makes it different
- Ranked and casual LFG are separate channels, so a need-one-for-comp post is never lost between deathmatch invites.
- The 5-Stack voice is capped at five seats, so nobody drops in mid-match and talks over callouts.
- VOD review lives apart from clips: timestamps and mistakes in one channel, aces and clutches in the other.
- The HQ category is read-only, with the Captain and IGL posting schedule and roster changes in #squad-briefing.
- No recruit tier: a Stand-in plays with the squad or does not, and the Captain promotes them when they stick.
Recommended Vetox setup
Temp Voice
Point Temp Voice at Warmup Range so a duo or trio queue gets its own room instead of squatting in the 5-Stack.
Reminders
Schedule a Reminder in #scrim-planning an hour before each scrim so all five confirm they are online before the opponent asks.
Notifications
Feed Steam news or the game's RSS into #patch-notes so balance changes land next to the loadout debate instead of in a group chat.
Starboard
Turn on Starboard for #clips so the squad's reactions pick the clip of the week without a separate vote.
Questions
There is no recruit or trial role. How do new players join?
By invitation from a Squad member. The Stand-in role covers people who fill in when someone is away; when they stick, the Captain gives them Squad. A trial ladder only pays off once you have more applicants than seats, and at that point a layout with a recruiting area, like Co-op Survival Crew, is the better starting point.
Why are the stack rooms capped at five?
So a sixth person cannot join a live match and talk over callouts. Spectators and the next group wait in Warmup Range, and Temp Voice can spin up more rooms when two stacks are queueing at once.
Can I use this for a 6v6 or 3v3 shooter?
Yes. Change the user limit on 5-Stack and Second Stack to your team size and keep the rest; the split between ranked LFG, casual LFG, scrim planning and VOD review is the same in every competitive shooter.
Common mistakes
- Bolting a recruit or trial ladder onto a five-person squad; it adds a probation stage to a roster that only has one open seat at a time.
- Letting VOD review happen in #clips, where a timestamped mistake is buried under highlight reels within the hour.
Consider instead
- Multi-Game Hangout your group rotates between several games and needs a channel per title rather than one squad's ranked loop
