Server structure

Channels

SERVER INFO

  • server-info

Address, version, difficulty and whether a resource pack is required. Kept current by the admins.

  • smp-rules

No griefing, no stealing, no unagreed PvP, no lag machines. Breaking one gets you removed from the whitelist.

  • smp-announcements

Season starts, resets, events and anything the whole server needs to read.

  • server-status

Restarts, backups, downtime and version bumps, posted by the owner and admins only.

  • notification-roles

Pick Redstoner, Shopkeeper or Event Ping so the right people get pinged.

WHITELIST

  • how-to-apply

Open the application form here. Tell us your username, how long you have played and what you like to build. Staff answer within a few days.

  • applicant-lounge

Questions from people waiting on a decision, and a place to say hello before you are on the world.

THE OVERWORLD

  • smp-chat

The main chat for people on the world. What happened today, who needs a hand, what got blown up.

  • coordinates-and-waypoints

Bases, portals, farms and points of interest with coordinates. Pin the ones that matter. Never share this channel outside the server.

  • build-showcase

One thread per build. Post progress in the thread and tag it when it is finished.

  • community-projects

Spawn, the nether hub, roads and anything built for everyone. Volunteer, claim a section, report progress.

  • farm-designs

Farm rates, schematics and links to the designs the server uses. Say which version you tested it on.

  • smp-screenshots

Views, builds and disasters from the world. Keep the coordinates out of the caption.

REDSTONE

  • redstone-help

Why does my sorter jam, why is my door out of sync, what is quasi-connectivity. Redstoners answer here.

  • contraption-requests

Need a storage system or a farm built at your base? Post what and where; a Redstoner claims it by replying.

  • tech-and-performance

Chunk loading, entity counts, lag sources and what the server can and cannot handle.

SHOPPING DISTRICT

  • shop-directory30s slowmode

One message per shop: name, what it sells, prices and where it is in the district. Edit your own message when stock changes.

  • trade-board

Buying, selling and swapping outside the shops. Delete your post once the deal is done.

  • price-check

What is a shulker of quartz worth this season? Ask before you undercut the whole district.

EVENTS

  • event-calendarHidden from @everyone

Build competitions, boss fights, games nights and season parties with dates and times. Staff post, everyone reads.

  • event-signups

Reply to the event you are joining. Teams for build competitions are formed here.

  • event-chat

Talk during and after events: results, screenshots and what to run next time.

VOICE

  • Spawn Hub
  • Build Session
  • Mining Trip
  • Redstone Lab
  • Event Voice
  • AFK

STAFF

  • staff-chat

Coordination between helpers, moderators and admins.

  • whitelist-review

One message per application: username, notes, decision. Add the player in-game before you grant the role.

Griefing, theft and rule breaks under investigation, with screenshots and the outcome.

Vetox posts moderation, join and message logs here.

Overview

Made for a whitelisted survival multiplayer world where the Discord is the front door, the town hall and the marketplace at once. Visitors who are not yet whitelisted see Server Info and Whitelist only: the address and version in #server-info, the rules, #how-to-apply and an #applicant-lounge for questions while they wait. The moment a moderator hands out the Whitelisted role, The Overworld, Redstone and the Shopping District open up. #coordinates-and-waypoints is where bases and portals get pinned, which is the whole reason for the gate: nobody outside the world can read it. #build-showcase is a forum with a thread per build and tags for bases, farms, redstone and works in progress, so big projects stop scrolling away. #redstone-help and #contraption-requests pair people who can wire a sorter with people who need one, and #tech-and-performance keeps chunk-loading and lag talk out of #smp-chat. The Shopping District has a shop directory, a trade board and a price check, so the diamond economy has a written record. Events get a staff-only calendar, signups and a chat. Voice is split by activity: a Spawn Hub lobby, a Build Session, a Mining Trip, a Redstone Lab and an Event Voice room. Staff review applications in #whitelist-review and handle reports out of sight.

When to use it

You host a survival world and the Discord has become a mess: applications land in the main chat, someone posted the base coordinates where a stranger could read them, and the shop list is a pinned message nobody updates. This layout puts a whitelist gate in front of everything that describes the world, gives builds and shops a place that persists, and leaves staff a private room to decide on applications.

What makes it different

  • The Overworld, Redstone and Shopping District categories are hidden until a moderator grants Whitelisted.
  • #build-showcase is a forum with tags for bases, farms, redstone and WIP, so every build keeps its own thread.
  • #server-status is posted by the owner and admins only, so restarts and version bumps are never missed.
  • The Shopping District gives the diamond economy a directory, a trade board and a price-check channel.
  • Voice rooms are named for the activity: Spawn Hub, Build Session, Mining Trip, Redstone Lab, Event Voice.

Recommended Vetox setup

  • Applications

Post an Applications form in #how-to-apply that asks for the Minecraft username and a build photo, and let staff approve it from #whitelist-review.

  • Auto Roles

Give Applicant automatically on join so newcomers land in #applicant-lounge with the right expectations while they wait.

  • Self-Roles

A Self-Roles panel in #notification-roles for Redstoner, Shopkeeper and Event Ping keeps pings aimed at the people who want them.

  • Reminders

Schedule a Reminder in #event-calendar the day before each event so signups in #event-signups close on time.

  • Leveling

Give Veteran as a Leveling role reward so the tier reflects months of presence in #smp-chat rather than a staff decision.

Questions

Does the template assume a specific Minecraft version or a modded server?

No. #server-info is where you state the version, the address and whether a resource pack or datapacks are required. Modded servers usually add a channel for mod-list changes under Server Info; the rest of the layout applies as it is.

How does the whitelist gate actually work in Discord terms?

The Overworld, Redstone, Shopping District and Events categories deny View Channel to @everyone and allow it for Whitelisted, Veteran, Helper and Moderator. Grant Whitelisted after you add the player in-game and the channels appear for them instantly; remove it and they vanish.

Where do world resets and season changes go?

Announce them in #smp-announcements, post the countdown and downtime in #server-status, and open a #build-showcase thread tagged Done for anything worth remembering from the old map. #shop-directory is the one channel worth clearing at the start of a new season.

Common mistakes

  • Letting non-whitelisted visitors read #coordinates-and-waypoints, which is how griefers find the bases before they are even on the server.
  • Making a text channel per shop or per build instead of one forum and one directory, which leaves twenty dead channels after a reset.

Consider instead

  • Co-op Survival Crew Your world is a private co-op with a small crew of friends and no public whitelist to manage.
