Channels

WELCOME

  • welcome

New arrivals land here. Say hi, then read #rules and grab a role in #roles.

The five rules of the crew. Reading them is the first step to getting promoted.

Wipes, events and crew news from the host and admins.

  • roles

Pick Builder, Explorer or Fighter so people know who to ask.

THE CAMP

  • general

The camp fire. Everything that is not a plan goes here.

  • screenshots

Builds, views, disasters. One image per message is plenty.

  • off-topic

Other games, real life, whatever keeps the crew talking between sessions.

SURVIVAL OPS

  • base-planning

One thread per build. Pin the current plan at the top of the thread and tag it.

Overview

Built for a crew of ten to forty people who share one survival world - Valheim, ARK, Palworld, Enshrouded or the next one - and need to coordinate without a spreadsheet. The server is organised around what a survival session actually contains. Base Planning is a forum, so each build (the main hall, the coastal outpost, the farm, the defensive wall) keeps its own thread with the current plan pinned instead of scrolling away. Resource Runs and Build Requests are quick text channels where someone asks for two stacks of iron and someone else claims it. Boss Prep holds the checklist for the next fight and Server Status is a read-only channel where the host posts restarts, wipes and mod updates. Voice is split by purpose rather than by number: a camp fire lobby, two expedition rooms and a boss room capped at ten. Recruits see the camp and the recruiting area only until a moderator promotes them, so a stranger cannot read your base coordinates on day one. Staff have a private chat, a log channel and their own voice room.

When to use it

Your group has outgrown a friends-only voice call: new people are joining, the base has four projects going at once, and important messages get buried under memes. This layout separates coordination from chatter, keeps recruits at arm's length until they earn access, and gives every construction project a thread that lasts as long as the build does.

What makes it different

  • Base Planning is a forum with a thread and tags per build, so plans stop scrolling away.
  • Recruits cannot see the operations category until a moderator promotes them.
  • Expedition voice rooms are separate from the camp lobby and the ten-seat boss room.
  • Server Status is host-only, so restarts and wipes are never missed in the chat.
  • Builder, Explorer and Fighter are self-assigned roles that show who does what.

Recommended Vetox setup

  • Temp Voice

Point Temp Voice at the Camp Fire lobby so a third expedition gets its own room without adding permanent channels.

  • Self-Roles

Post a Self-Roles panel in #roles for Builder, Explorer and Fighter so members mark their specialty on day one.

  • Tickets

Put a ticket panel in #apply-here so recruits apply in private and moderators promote them from the ticket.

  • Reminders

Schedule a Reminder in #boss-prep the evening before each boss fight with the checklist.

  • Leveling

Give Veteran as a role reward at a level that regular players reach in a month, so the tier means presence.

Questions

Does this work for a game without bosses, like a farming or colony sim?

Yes. Rename #boss-prep to whatever the next big shared effort is, a raid, a harvest or a migration, and keep the rest. The structure is about coordination, not about one game.

How do recruits become crew members?

A moderator gives them the Crew Member role. Until then they see the camp and recruiting channels only; the operations category, the maps and the plans are hidden from the Recruit role.

Why is there a ten-seat boss voice room?

Boss fights are the one time the whole crew is in voice at once and needs to hear callouts. A capped room keeps spectators in the camp lobby.

Common mistakes

  • Letting recruits see the operations category on day one, which is how base coordinates end up in the wrong hands.
  • Making a text channel per building instead of one forum, which leaves a dozen dead channels after the base is finished.
