Overview
A server for one online tournament, from sign-ups to the final: a weekend bracket, a community cup or a single-elimination event with a few dozen teams. Event Info holds the read-only #rulebook, #round-schedule and #prize-pool. Registration takes entries through #sign-up-here and publishes the referee-posted #entry-list; #find-a-teammate and #registration-questions are the two channels players write in there. Matches is the working area: referees post to #bracket-updates, captains post screenshots in #report-your-match, times are agreed in #match-scheduling, and four ten-seat Match Lobbies plus a Referee on Call room cover the games themselves. Disputes are deliberately formal: a player opens a ticket in #open-a-dispute, referees discuss it in a hidden #referee-room with an #evidence-locker and a Referee Huddle voice, and the Head Referee publishes the outcome in #dispute-rulings. Broadcast gives casters a private room and a four-seat Commentary Booth, a public #watch-the-stream and a Finals Stage. Spectators get a lounge, #match-predictions for bragging rights only, #clips-and-plays and the referee-posted #results-board. Admin is hidden from everyone but the Head Referee.
When to use it
You are running a 32-team weekend cup. Captains need to report scores without arguing in chat, disputes need evidence and a ruling that everyone can see, casters need a booth that players cannot join, and spectators want to talk without drowning the bracket. This layout gives each of those a channel with the right posting rights, so the referees can run the event instead of moderating it.
What makes it different
- #report-your-match is captain-and-referee only, so score reports are not lost in spectator chat.
- Disputes flow through a ticket, a hidden referee room with an evidence locker, and public #dispute-rulings.
- Casters have a private room and a four-seat Commentary Booth; the final goes out on Finals Stage.
- #bracket-updates, #entry-list and #results-board are referee-posted feeds, read-only for everyone else.
- #match-predictions gives spectators a game of their own with nothing at stake but bragging rights.
Recommended Vetox setup
Applications
Run team registration through Applications in #sign-up-here so a captain submits the roster once and referees approve it into #entry-list.
Tickets
Put a ticket panel in #open-a-dispute so every dispute is a private thread between the captain and the referees, with the evidence attached.
Reminders
Schedule Reminders in #round-schedule for check-in and each round's start so captains are pinged without a referee watching the clock.
Notifications
Add a Twitch or YouTube Notification into #watch-the-stream so the broadcast link posts itself when the casters go live.
Questions
How does a dispute get resolved?
The captain opens a ticket in #open-a-dispute and attaches the evidence. Referees discuss it in #referee-room and store screenshots in #evidence-locker; the Head Referee posts the decision in #dispute-rulings, which is read-only for everyone else.
Only four Match Lobbies; what if more matches run at once?
Add lobbies before the event, or turn on Temp Voice so a captain can create one per match. Four is the right number for a bracket that plays two rounds at a time.
Can players see the caster channels?
They can see #watch-the-stream, which is where the stream link goes. #caster-room and the Commentary Booth are visible only to the Caster and Head Referee roles.
Common mistakes
- Letting players report scores in a public channel, which turns every close match into an argument in front of spectators.
- Giving casters the same rooms as players; a caster on a player's voice channel hears callouts the other team cannot.
Consider instead
- Sports Watch Party Nobody is competing; you are watching a real-world tournament together.
