Server structure

Overview

The layout for a community that does not exist yet: a founder, a few friends and the first wave of people who found the invite. Everything a newcomer needs is in Start Here - #welcome, where Vetox greets each arrival, #rules, #announcements and #roles, where an Events Ping role is the only choice on day one. The Hub is the whole life of the server: #general for the running conversation, #introductions with a short slowmode so first posts do not vanish under replies, #off-topic for whatever does not fit, #media for photos, links and clips, and #bot-commands so rank cards and games stay out of the chat. Two voice rooms, Hangout and Late Night, are enough until they are both full at the same time. The Staff corner is hidden from everyone else: #staff-chat, #staff-logs where Vetox writes joins, leaves and moderation actions, and a Staff Room voice channel. Fourteen channels, seven roles, nothing that needs an explanation. Add a channel when a conversation keeps happening in the wrong place, not before.

When to use it

You have a group chat, a shared interest and an invite link you are about to post publicly. The next fifty people will judge the server in thirty seconds: is it obvious where to say hello, where the rules are and where the conversation is? This layout answers those three questions with four read-only channels, one lively hub and two voice rooms, and it hides the staff channels so a new moderator has somewhere to talk from the first day.

• Start Here holds exactly four read-only channels, so a newcomer reads everything in one minute.
• #introductions carries a thirty-second slowmode, so first posts are not buried by replies.

• Seven roles: a staff ladder, a Regular tier earned by activity and one ping role to opt into.

Recommended Vetox setup

• Welcomer

  Point Welcomer at #welcome so every arrival gets a greeting and a nudge toward #rules and #roles.

• Auto Roles

  Hand out Member on join with Auto Roles so the member list is tidy and the Regular tier means something when it arrives later.

• Self-Roles

  Post a Self-Roles panel in #roles with Events Ping, the one opt-in a starter server needs before it grows.

• Leveling

  Award Regular as a Leveling role reward around the level a weekly visitor reaches in a month, so the tier means presence, not seniority.

• Logs

  Send Logs to #staff-logs from day one; the first dispute is easier to settle with a record than with memory.
