YouTube Channel Community
The default server for a YouTube channel: an upload feed, a premiere chat, video-by-video discussion and idea requests.
- 6 categories
- 22 channels
- 9 roles
- Medium
Choose a server, review what will be created or reused, then confirm. Merge keeps what you have; replace rebuilds the server. Vetox takes a safety backup first either way.

Overview
A channel's server exists to give the audience somewhere to be between uploads, and this layout is built around the upload cycle. #new-uploads is read-only and fed automatically from the channel feed, with #upload-reactions beside it so the shouting has a home and the feed stays a clean list. #premiere-chat is quiet most of the week and full for twenty minutes at a time, which is exactly what a premiere needs. Video Discussion is the part most channel servers get wrong: #video-threads is a forum with one thread per video, tagged by series, so a comment on a video from March still has somewhere to go instead of dying in the general channel. #timestamps-and-corrections is where the audience fixes the creator's mistakes, which they will do anyway and may as well do somewhere useful. Ideas and Requests turns the server into an asset rather than an overhead: #video-ideas collects suggestions, #questions-for-qanda fills the next Q&A, and #polls is where the creator asks the audience to choose. The Community half is what keeps people between uploads: #general, #off-topic, #your-own-projects and #recommend-a-channel. Members is a small perks floor for channel members, deliberately three channels. One Creator role, a small Moderator team, a Member role and self-assigned ping roles for uploads and premieres.
When to use it
Most channel servers are a general chat with a bot posting links, so discussion of a specific video lasts a day and the creator gets no usable feedback. This layout separates the upload feed from the reaction channel, gives every video a permanent thread, and turns viewer suggestions into structured input for the next video rather than a scroll of one-liners the creator never reads.
What makes it different
- One forum thread per video, so a comment on an old upload still has a home.
- The upload feed stays a clean list because reactions have their own channel.
- A corrections channel, because the audience will fix your mistakes regardless.
- Q&A questions are collected between videos rather than scraped from comments.
Recommended Vetox setup
Notifications
Point Notifications at the channel's YouTube feed so #new-uploads fills the moment a video goes live.
Self-Roles
Post a Self-Roles panel in #ping-roles for Upload Ping and Premiere Ping so notifications are opt-in.
Suggestions
Run Suggestions on #video-ideas so the creator sees what the audience actually voted for, not the loudest post.
Starboard
Point Starboard at #video-threads so the sharpest audience observations surface where the creator will see them.
Questions
Why a forum for videos instead of a channel per series?
A channel per series means the sidebar grows with the channel and most of it is dead. A forum thread per video sorts by activity, keeps a series tag so browsing by series still works, and stays usable at two hundred videos. It also means a viewer who finds a video a year later has somewhere obvious to comment that is not the general channel.
Is a members-only area worth it for a small channel?
Only if you will post in it. Three channels you use weekly are worth far more than eight that show a message from two months ago, because members judge the perk by whether it feels alive. Start with the three here and add a fourth when the third is genuinely busy.
Common mistakes
- Letting the upload feed and the reactions share a channel, so the feed becomes unreadable.
- Discussing every video in general chat, where a video from last month has nowhere to go.
- Building a ten-channel members area the creator cannot keep alive, which reads as abandoned.
Consider instead
- Multi-Platform Creator Hub You publish across several platforms and YouTube is one of them rather than the centre.
- Short-Form Video Creator Your channel is built on Shorts and the cycle is daily rather than weekly.
