Overview
A gaming channel's audience wants two things the channel itself cannot give them: to talk about the series episode by episode, and to actually play with the creator. This layout provides both. Series is one channel per active series — four to start, renamed as the channel changes — because a viewer three episodes behind on one series should not be reading spoilers for another. #spoiler-rules is read-only and states the window, usually a week, after which spoilers stop being tagged. Uploads keeps #new-uploads as a clean automatic feed with #first-reactions beside it. Play With Me is the reason a gaming server beats a comment section: #game-nights announces when the creator is playing, #whos-playing is where viewers say they are around, #server-ip-and-lobbies holds the details for the current session, and Game Night One and Two are the voice rooms it happens in. Clips and Submissions feeds the channel back: #clip-submissions takes viewer clips for compilation videos with a stated format, #fails-and-highlights is the informal version, and #thumbnail-and-title-votes lets the audience pick between options, which is genuinely useful data. Community holds general, off-topic, #your-setups and #other-games. A Regular role earned through Leveling gets priority in the game-night lobbies, which is the one perk this kind of server can offer that costs nothing.
When to use it
Gaming channel servers usually have one chat where every series, every spoiler and every request to join a lobby collide, so viewers get spoiled, the creator cannot find who is around to play, and clip submissions arrive in unusable formats. This layout gives each series its own channel with a stated spoiler window, keeps game-night coordination in one place, and asks clip submissions to follow a format the editor can use.
What makes it different
- One channel per series, so nobody is spoiled on a series they are behind on.
- A stated spoiler window rather than an argument every upload day.
- Game nights have their own coordination channels and voice rooms.
- Clip submissions follow a stated format, so the editor can actually use them.
Recommended Vetox setup
Notifications
Point Notifications at the YouTube feed so #new-uploads posts each video without the creator remembering.
Leveling
Use Leveling to grant the Regular role, which gets priority in the game-night lobbies rather than a cosmetic colour.
Temp Voice
Enable Temp Voice beside the game rooms so a busy night opens extra lobbies and closes them afterwards.
Self-Roles
Post a Self-Roles panel in #series-roles so viewers follow only the series they watch.
Questions
How long should the spoiler window be?
A week is the usual answer and the number matters less than stating it. Without a written window, every upload produces the same argument between the people who watched immediately and the people who watch on Sunday. Put it in #spoiler-rules, make it the same for every series, and moderators have something to point at instead of adjudicating.
Should viewers really get to vote on thumbnails?
On options you would be happy to ship, yes. It is real data from the audience most likely to click, it costs nothing, and it makes viewers feel involved in a way that a general chat cannot. Do not put a thumbnail you dislike on the poll: you will be outvoted and you will use it.
What makes a clip submission usable?
State the format in the channel topic: a direct link, a timestamp, and one line on what happens. Bare links mean the editor watches twenty clips to find three, which is why most creators stop reading the channel. With a format, the channel becomes a genuine source of material rather than a courtesy.
Common mistakes
- One chat for every series, which spoils viewers who are behind and drives them off the server.
- Announcing game nights only on YouTube, so the people already in the server miss them.
- Accepting clip submissions in any format, which makes them useless for a compilation.
Consider instead
- YouTube Channel Community Your channel is not primarily gaming and viewers do not expect to play with you.
- Single Streamer Community You stream live far more than you upload, and the schedule is the centre of the server.
