THE LOOP

  • how-the-club-works

Post an intention, join a room, report at the end. That is the whole club.

  • todays-intention

What you are about to do. Before you start, not after.

  • session-check-in

    Starting a block. One line.

  • end-of-day

What got done and what did not. No apology required.

FOCUS ROOMS

  • Silent Room

BETWEEN SESSIONS

  • lounge

    Breaks and everything else.

  • stuck

Cannot start. Different from stuck on the work, and it belongs here.

Deliberately low bar. Opening the document counts.

  • what-are-you-working-on

So the room knows who it is sitting with.

Overview

This server has one job: get people to start working and keep going. The loop is three channels and three rooms. #todays-intention is where a member posts what they will do before they begin, which is the single mechanic the whole club runs on — a stated intention is finished far more often than an unstated one. #session-check-in marks the start of a block, and #end-of-day is the report: what got done, what did not, and no apology required for the second. Focus Rooms are the co-working half, and the split matters: Silent Room denies speaking entirely and is for people who want company without conversation, Timer Room is where a session host runs the twenty-five and five out loud, and Chatty Focus is the room where light talk is allowed, so the people who want it stop drifting into the silent one. Between sessions, #stuck is for the specific problem of not being able to start, which is different from being stuck on the work and deserves its own channel; #wins is deliberately low bar, and #what-are-you-working-on gives members context on each other. Habits holds #streaks, #routines-that-worked and #environment for the desk-and-noise conversation. There is no subject structure at all, because the club is not about what you are studying — a thesis, a tax return and a language course all fail the same way, at the start.

When to use it

Focus servers usually become chat servers, because a single voice room mixes people who want silence with people who want conversation and the talkers always win. This layout splits the rooms by whether talking is allowed, makes the stated intention the entry point rather than an afterthought, and separates being unable to start from being stuck on the work, since those need completely different responses.

What makes it different

  • Voice rooms are split by whether talking is allowed, so silence actually survives.
  • A stated intention before starting is the mechanic the whole club runs on.
  • Not being able to start has its own channel, separate from being stuck on the work.
  • No subject structure, because a thesis and a tax return fail at the same point.

Recommended Vetox setup

  • Streaks

Run Streaks on #todays-intention so posting an intention builds a visible run, which is what carries the habit.

  • Reminders

Set Reminders for the club's regular session times so the Timer Room fills without a host chasing people.

  • Temp Voice

Enable Temp Voice beside the focus rooms so a busy afternoon can open another silent room and close it after.

  • Leveling

Reward a Regular role through Leveling so members who show up over months are recognisable in the rooms.

Questions

Does the intention post really make a difference?

It is the difference between a co-working server and a voice channel people idle in. Writing down what you are about to do costs fifteen seconds, makes the task specific enough to start, and creates a small social commitment. Clubs that drop the channel end up with rooms full of people who joined an hour ago and have not opened the document.

Why is Chatty Focus worth having?

Because without it the talkers end up in the silent room. Some people focus better with background conversation and there is nothing wrong with that; the failure is mixing them with people who need silence. Naming a room where talking is fine keeps the silent room genuinely silent, which is the harder thing to protect.

Should sessions be hosted or self-serve?

Both, and the Timer Room is the difference. A hosted session, where someone calls the start and the break out loud, works far better for people who struggle to start; self-serve suits people who already have the habit. Run hosted sessions at a couple of fixed times a day and leave the other rooms open all the time.

Common mistakes

  • One voice room for everyone, where the people who want to talk drive out the people who want silence.
  • Treating the intention post as optional, which removes the only mechanic the club has.
  • Adding subject channels, which turns a focus club into a study server with a timer attached.
