Overview

A small lounge for people who study better with someone else in the room. The routine runs through three text channels: post what you are about to work on in #check-in, join a voice room, then post the result in #done when you close the laptop. The rooms are split by how people focus, not by subject. Silent Room 1 and Silent Room 2 deny speaking for everyone, so they stay quiet even when a stranger joins. The Camera On Room is the one focus room where talking is allowed, for people who want body-doubling with the odd word between tasks. The Music Lounge is for anyone who works to a shared playlist, with links traded in #playlists. #quick-questions is the one place a Helper will answer a question instead of ignoring it, and #resource-drop keeps the summaries and links that would otherwise vanish in chat. Hosts get a hidden room with #host-chat, #lounge-logs and a Host Voice, and #session-schedule is a read-only timetable of the hours a host will be in a room for sure. Roles stay light: Host, Co-Host, Helper, Regular and Member, plus self-assigned Early Bird and Night Owl so members can find the others who keep their hours.

When to use it

A few friends have been keeping each other honest over a nightly voice call and it is time to give that a home strangers can join without ruining the silence. This layout makes the rules part of the rooms: the silent rooms cannot be talked in, #check-in and #done make progress visible without anyone policing it, and people who need background noise get the Music Lounge instead of an argument about it.

What makes it different

• Silent Room 1 and 2 deny Speak for everyone, so a new arrival cannot break the quiet.

  Point Temp Voice at the Camera On Room so a full room spawns another instead of people waiting in #check-in.

• Streaks

  Turn on Streaks for #check-in so a daily post builds a visible run that members will not want to break.

• Leveling

  Let Leveling count voice minutes in the silent rooms and give Regular at a level that takes a few weeks of showing up.

• Self-Roles

  Post a Self-Roles panel in #welcome for Early Bird and Night Owl so people find company at their own hour.

• Reminders

  Schedule a Reminder in #session-schedule ten minutes before each hosted block so the rooms fill on time.
