Overview
A just-chatting stream runs on conversation, so the server is built to keep one going between broadcasts. The Conversation category is the centre: #topic-of-the-day is read-only and holds the prompt the host or a moderator posts each morning, #topic-chat is the slowmoded discussion under it, #viewer-stories is where people tell the story they wanted to tell on stream, #advice-corner is for the questions people ask the host on air, #hot-takes carries the arguments on a long slowmode so they stay civil, and #questions-for-the-host is the queue for the next stream's Q and A. The Lobby holds #live-alerts, #stream-times and the ping roles. Off Stream is the small talk: general, life updates, recommendations and pets. Subscribers get a hidden lounge, an ask-me-anything channel and a voice room. Voice is the other half of a talk community: a Main Hangout, a Late Night room, a four-seat Quiet Room and a Story Stage where a viewer can take the microphone in front of the room. The Mod Room includes #topic-queue, where moderators line up the next week of prompts.
When to use it
Your stream is you talking to chat for three hours, and the best moments come from viewers' own stories and questions. This layout captures those between streams: a daily topic with its own discussion channel, a place for viewer stories and advice requests that you can read on air, a queue of host questions for the next stream, and hangout voice rooms including a stage where a viewer can tell their story to the room. Moderators plan the week's topics in a channel of their own.
What makes it different
- #topic-of-the-day is read-only with a slowmoded #topic-chat beneath it, so the prompt is never lost.
- #viewer-stories and #advice-corner give the host on-air material collected between streams.
- #hot-takes uses a long slowmode so arguments stay readable and civil.
- The Story Stage lets a viewer take the microphone in front of the room.
- Moderators queue the next week of topics in #topic-queue, hidden from viewers.
Recommended Vetox setup
Notifications
Twitch or Kick Notifications into #live-alerts with the Live Ping role, so people know the conversation has moved to the stream.
Reminders
A daily Reminder in #topic-of-the-day at the same hour, so the moderator on duty posts the prompt from #topic-queue on time.
Self-Roles
A Self-Roles panel in #ping-roles for Live Ping and Topic Ping, so the people who want the daily prompt get it and nobody else does.
Auto-Mod
Auto-Mod on #hot-takes and #advice-corner, where the conversations most likely to go wrong happen.
Starboard
A Starboard fed from #viewer-stories, so the stories the community reacts to most are the ones the host reads on stream.
Questions
Who posts the topic of the day?
The host or a moderator. The channel is read-only for everyone else; moderators keep a week of prompts ready in #topic-queue and post one each morning, and the discussion happens in #topic-chat.
What is the Story Stage for?
A stage channel where one viewer at a time speaks to the room. Use it for story nights and Q and A sessions off stream, with a moderator as the host who invites speakers up.
Why is there a Quiet Room capped at four?
Talk communities attract people who want a small conversation, not a crowd. A four-seat room gives them one without making the main hangout feel empty.
Common mistakes
- Posting the topic of the day in general, where it is gone within an hour and the discussion never forms.
- Skipping the slowmode on #hot-takes, which turns a good argument into a wall of one-line replies.
Consider instead
- Single Streamer Community Gameplay is most of your stream and the talk segments are the exception.
