Overview

Cosplay is a set of distinct crafts that happen to end in the same photograph, so this server is split by the skill rather than by the fandom. Construction is one channel per discipline — #foam-and-armour, #sewing-and-patterns, #wigs-and-styling, #props-and-weathering, #shoes-and-accessories and #paint-and-finishing — because a question about heat-forming foam has nothing to do with wig fibre, and a single crafting channel buries both. #work-in-progress is the daily channel and #finished-cosplays has a slowmode so it reads as a gallery. #materials-and-suppliers covers what to buy and what is a waste of money, which is a constant and expensive question in this hobby. Conventions is the half most cosplay servers underserve: #whats-coming-up, #meetups-and-groups for coordinating with other attendees, #packing-and-transport, which is where experience genuinely saves people from disaster, and #con-safety. Photography holds #photo-etiquette, stating plainly that asking before photographing is required and that a costume is not consent, plus #photographer-recommendations and #photo-requests. #beginners exists so a first attempt is not posted next to a professional build, and its rule is that nobody is discouraging. Roles mark disciplines so a question reaches people who do that craft.

When to use it

General cosplay servers run one crafting channel where a foam question, a sewing question and a wig question compete, so the specialists never see the questions they could answer. Convention logistics live nowhere, and photo etiquette is assumed rather than stated. This layout splits by craft, gives conventions real planning channels, and writes the consent rule for photography down where everyone reads it.
