Overview
Built for a podcast that has outgrown its comments section: a host, a producer or two, and listeners who want to argue about the last episode and shape the next one. The FRONT DESK holds #episode-drops, where Podcast Notifications post each new episode from the RSS feed with its show notes, and #show-updates for schedule changes and live dates. EPISODES is the working part of the server. #episode-discussion is a forum, so every episode keeps its own thread instead of scrolling away under the next release; #listener-questions is the pipeline for questions answered on air, #guest-suggestions and #topic-pitches collect what the audience wants next, and #corrections-and-follow-ups is where the show owns its mistakes. LIVE is a Recording Stage where listeners raise a hand to call in, a live chat beside it, and a Green Room only the host, producers and the episode's guest can enter. Patrons get a hidden floor with early and bonus episodes and a monthly Patron Call; the Producer's Table above it lets the top tier vote on topics and see their name in the credits. STUDIO keeps planning, guest booking and sponsor reads away from the public, and sponsor reads away from moderators too.
When to use it
Your podcast has a few hundred regular listeners, the comments on each episode vanish within a week, and the questions you would love to answer on air arrive by email in no order. This layout gives every episode a permanent thread, turns listener questions into a queue you can read from during recording, and lets you record live in front of the people who show up, with a green room for guests and a patron floor that is worth paying for.
What makes it different
- #episode-discussion is a forum: one thread per episode, tagged Latest, Classic, Bonus or Interview.
- #listener-questions is a slow-mode queue the host reads from on air, not a chat.
- The Recording Stage lets listeners raise a hand to call in while the Green Room stays private.
- Patrons see early and bonus episodes; the Producer's Table adds topic votes and a credits roll.
- #sponsor-reads is hidden from moderators, so ad copy stays between the host and the producers.
Recommended Vetox setup
Notifications
Point Podcast Notifications at #episode-drops so every episode from the RSS feed lands there with its show notes and a mention of Episode Ping.
Self-Roles
Post a Self-Roles panel in #notification-roles for Episode Ping and Live Ping, so a live recording only pings the people who asked for it.
Reminders
Schedule a Reminder in #show-updates an hour before each Recording Stage session and before the monthly Patron Call.
Auto-Mod
Enable Auto-Mod on #live-recording-chat and #lounge, which fill up fastest while an episode is being recorded live.
Questions
Can a guest join the server just for their episode?
Yes. Give them the Guest role for the week: it opens the Green Room and nothing else, and they can be invited to speak on the Recording Stage like anyone. Remove the role afterwards and they are an ordinary listener.
Do I need a separate channel for every episode?
No. #episode-discussion is a forum, so each episode is a thread, opened by hand or from the notification when the episode drops. Tags mark whether it is the latest, a classic or an interview, and old threads stay searchable.
How do the patron tiers map to my membership platform?
Patron and Patron Plus are hidden-category roles. Connect them to your membership platform's Discord integration and access follows the subscription; Patron Plus opens the Producer's Table on top of the patron floor.
Common mistakes
- Answering listener questions in the chat as they arrive, which empties #listener-questions before the microphone is on.
- Posting bonus episodes in the public #episode-drops, which leaves the patron floor with nothing patrons cannot get elsewhere.
Consider instead
- Newsletter Readers Community Your show is written rather than recorded and the audience discusses issues, not episodes.
