Overview

Thirteen channels for a group whose main event is the weekly film. The Lobby is where the week happens: #lobby-chat for everything, #whats-next-vote where the candidates are put to a poll, a read-only #screening-schedule that the Owner, Admin or that week's Picker writes so the date never scrolls away, and #watchlist, the long list of things somebody wants to get to eventually. After the Credits is for afterwards: #reviews-and-ratings, where everyone gives a score and a sentence, #spoilers, which is hidden from anyone holding the self-assigned Not Caught Up role, #scene-quotes for the lines that become the group's language, and #trailer-drops for what is coming. Screening Room is the watch-party voice channel, with Intermission beside it for the people who keep talking when the film is paused. Snacks and Setup holds #snacks-and-drinks, #stream-setup-help for whoever is sharing the screen this week and the audio problem that always happens at 8:58, and #poster-wall for the media. Five roles: Owner, Admin, Picker of the Week, which is hoisted so everyone knows whose fault the film was, Popcorn Ping for the 'we are starting' mention, and Not Caught Up, which hides #spoilers until you drop it. No moderator tier; nothing here needs one.

When to use it

Your group chat has a film in it somewhere: three candidates, two dates, one link and a spoiler somebody posted before half of you had watched it. This layout gives the vote, the schedule and the reviews their own channels, hides spoilers from whoever has not caught up yet, and puts a voice room next to the vote so the night starts with one click.

What makes it different

• #spoilers is hidden from the self-assigned Not Caught Up role, so the group can talk freely.
• #screening-schedule is read-only and written by the Picker of the Week, so the date never scrolls away.
• Picker of the Week is a hoisted role that rotates, so whose turn it is is always visible.
• Intermission sits next to Screening Room for the people who talk through the pause.
• #stream-setup-help keeps the 8:58 audio panic out of #lobby-chat.

• Reminders

  Set a Reminder in #screening-schedule an hour before each film, mentioning Popcorn Ping, and one on Monday in #whats-next-vote to open the poll.

• Self-Roles

  Post a Self-Roles panel in #lobby-chat for Not Caught Up and Popcorn Ping, so hiding #spoilers from yourself is one click.

• Starboard

  Point Starboard at #scene-quotes with a low threshold; the lines that get three reactions in #lobby-chat are the ones the group will keep quoting.

• Colors

  Turn on Colors so everyone picks their own name colour; in a five-role server it is most of the personality on the member list.
