Overview

A friend group that is good at celebrating each other stays close, and this server makes that the structure rather than an accident. #birthday-board is read-only and lists every member's date, so nobody is forgotten and nobody has to remember. #whats-coming-up carries the next month's occasions, and #milestones is for the ones that are not birthdays: a new job, a move, an exam passed, a hard thing survived. Wishlists is the channel that quietly solves gift-giving: #wishlists holds one post per person, kept current, with sizes and preferences and the things they would never buy themselves, which is what makes a gift land rather than a guess. #never-buy-me is the honest companion, because knowing what someone does not want prevents most bad presents. Exchanges runs the organised ones: #exchange-signups, #assignments, #shipping-and-deadlines, and #reveal for when everything arrives. Surprise Planning is a category the person being surprised cannot see, which is the whole point: it holds #planning and #contributions, and the role is moved as the subject changes. The Celebration channels are the payoff: #happy-birthday, #photos-from-the-day and #thank-yous. A small #gift-ideas channel runs year round for the moment somebody sees the perfect thing in March.

When to use it

Celebrating each other in a friend group depends entirely on one organised person remembering, and when they are busy the whole thing quietly stops. Gifts are guesswork because nobody knows sizes or preferences, and surprises leak because there is nowhere private to plan. This layout puts dates on a board, keeps living wishlists including what people do not want, and gives surprise planning a room the subject cannot see.
