Overview

A guild for independent designers, developers, writers, marketers and video editors who want the parts of freelancing that are easier together: finding work, getting paid and not working alone. The Guild Hall is read-only: #guild-handbook, #guild-noticeboard, #pick-your-craft for the self-assigned craft roles and #get-verified, a ticket panel that turns a newcomer into a Verified Freelancer once a moderator has seen their work. The Work Board is where the money starts: #job-leads for openings posted by Client Posters and members, #subcontract-requests for freelancers hiring freelancers, #lead-sharing for the jobs you cannot take, and #scam-watch for the clients to avoid. The Business Side covers what nobody teaches: #contracts-help, #invoicing-and-payments, #taxes-and-legal and #tools-and-stack, plus #rates-talk, which is hidden from Client Posters and Newcomers so members can compare what they charge without a client reading it. Craft holds #portfolio-reviews as a forum tagged by discipline, #proposal-clinic and #booked-and-paid for the wins. Coworking is voice: a Coworking Floor for talking, a Silent Coworking room where nobody can speak, and a Guild Meetup stage. The Council category, with #verification-queue and #dispute-mediation, is hidden from every member role.

When to use it

You freelance from a kitchen table, the last three leads came from a friend of a friend, and you have no idea whether your day rate is half of what it should be. This layout gives freelancers a work board with a scam list, a place to compare rates that clients cannot see, a review forum by discipline and a coworking room to sit in while you work.

What makes it different

• Rates talk is hidden from the Client Poster and Newcomer roles, so members can compare prices candidly.
• The work board separates client-posted leads from subcontracting and lead sharing between freelancers.
• Portfolio reviews are a forum tagged by discipline, so a designer's review is not buried under code.
• Silent Coworking is a voice room where nobody can speak, next to the Coworking Floor where they can.
• Verification runs through a ticket panel, and only Verified Freelancers post on the work board.

  Put the verification panel in #get-verified so a moderator reviews a portfolio in private and promotes the ticket owner to Verified Freelancer.

• Auto-Mod

  Block link spam and repeated posting in #job-leads so the board is not flooded by the same recruiter every hour.

• Temp Voice

  Attach Temp Voice to the Coworking Floor so a pair working on a subcontract gets a room of their own.
