Amari is the rare Discord bot that has resisted growing. Nine years in, it still does per-server XP, role rewards and leaderboards, and it still charges once rather than monthly. That focus is genuinely worth something. It also comes with three constraints most servers only discover after they have committed.
Key takeaways
- Amari is a genuine specialist: nine years of continuous operation, Discord-verified, on roughly 321,000 servers, doing one job.
- Its free tier is real. Role rewards, level-up announcements and both leaderboards cost nothing. This is not a demo.
- It has no web dashboard. Every setting is a Discord command, and the website carries leaderboards rather than configuration.
- Premium is held by a person, not a server. It is a one-time donation from $6.99, and a server only behaves as premium while its owner holds it.
- English only, per its own Discord application locale list.
- Capabilities verified 2026-08-25 against Amari’s own documentation and Discord’s App Directory.
Why Servers Look Past Amari
Almost never because the leveling is bad. Amari’s XP model is straightforward and its free tier is more generous than most: role rewards, level-up announcements, an XP blacklist for roles and channels, and both an all-time and a weekly leaderboard, none of it paywalled. Servers leave for structural reasons instead.
The first is configuration. There is no settings dashboard: every change is a command typed in Discord, which is fine for a one-time setup and tiresome for a server that tunes its XP curve, or that wants a second admin to adjust rewards without being walked through the syntax.
The second is who owns premium. Amari’s perks are bought once, from $6.99, and held by a user — and the commands that apply them to a server are owner-only. That is generous while the owner stays. It also means the server’s premium behaviour is attached to a person rather than to the server, which is a different risk profile from a subscription the server itself carries.
The third is language. Amari’s Discord application lists exactly one supported locale, en-US. For a server whose members read Arabic, Spanish or Portuguese, the leveling messages arrive in English regardless.

Vetox vs. Amari in Detail
The two agree on the thing that matters most: base leveling should be free. Vetox gives away XP, role rewards, level-up messages and leaderboards on its free plan, exactly as Amari does. The differences sit around the leveling rather than inside it.

If leveling is genuinely all you want and you never touch the settings again, Amari is cheap and good at it. Vetox matches it for free, then adds a dashboard, 21 languages, and premium the server keeps regardless of who paid.
